1. Re: Public parking in Cruz Bay. 4 years ago. Save. Public parking is fairly limited and to me is not that secure except mongoose. I always park at slims next to tap and still. It’s wide open and very secure. There’s also where the old lumberyard used to be that has a big lot. Both cost $10-20 a day.

The CDC still marks it as purple/moderate risk, but from what I can glean from various searches online, it seems there haven't been new cases reported since 2019 and the CDC removed their USVI Zika warning several years ago.

We go to St John at least twice per year and stay in the Bordeaux Mtn or Coral Bay areas. Lots of breeze there to keep bugs off, but still a lot of mosquitoes and no-see ums. We took a spray this year called Sawyers Insect Repellant with 20% picaridin and had fewer bites. I think the DEET only works well for mosquitoes.This will be our first trip to St. John and the USVI.We are staying at Gallow Point. Aside from driving around the island is there any practical need for a jeep while we are there? We will be visiting for 4 days in early April and the goal is to relax, see the sun, hit some of the local establishments for many cocktails, and likely a sail/boat excursion.About St. John. Ecotourism is alive and kicking on St. John. There's more than enough to do on land, from watching for wildlife in the national park to hiking miles of trails or strolling sandy white beaches. Tortola vs. St. John, USVI. My husband and I are having a hard time deciding between staying on Tortola or St. John's ( USVI) for our vacation. We plan on spending about a week in May (to avoid hurricane season and hopefully some out-of-school crowds). Both islands look beautiful and I know the ferries can take us to both USVI and BVI.
