The best way to play fanatic purifiers, in my opinion, is to play as wide as possible. Mineral rush ASAP, just build fleet, and overwhelm your enemies with sheer numbers. Every war is a total war for them, and you force labor all xeno pops to death, which will in turn give you more minerals and food (plus society research, and unity, I think).
