The battery may well be a problem, but its not the primary reason for it not starting, seeing as it does not start with jumpers.

HOWEVER, in my experience with KIA things do tend to go bad unexpectedly and very prematurely. For example, my 2016 Cadenza before the Sorento had AC system failure at 32k miles, and just like you said this happened in the middle of a road trip and no KIA dealer near by had the necessary parts in stock. Then at 34k miles lost the battery.
