Orest, I sent in an application to M1 Collectors Club as per your customer service people to satisfy my club affiliation and be able to purchase an M1 from CMP. The M1 Collectors club has not responded nor have they cashed my check. Do you know what is going on with them?The serial number starts with a 6 and ends with a 5 with space between the numbers with two struck lines between the numbers. Interesting, but maybe not in a good way. Is that the remnant of another number under the 6? It appears to me to be a spot of original finish. See new enlarged picture.

The stake marks are evidence of an adjustable rear sight being installed, but that would have been later. There may (or may not) be other clues on the carbine as to whether it went through a rebuild.

I did some looking and it seems the case and the M8 cleaning rod are not inclusive to the M1 carbine. Here is a 1944 marked case I have. Marked P.M.&S.CO 1944. No markings on the aluminum T handle. Here is a case marked Fungus Proofed - Type 1. J C (or G) BIRCK CLNG CO Inc_1945. The T handle is marked C & S Tool Co. The bolt has the wear I would expect from a good amount of use, but the rest of the receiver, barrel, slide and trigger group have very little wear. In fact, the trigger group looks almost brand new.
