Most spikes dont quite make contact with the floor you are standing on but two of them should. It used to be easy to get out of the core. Just let yourself suffocate to death, and you spawn back at your base. But now that is impossible. You'd have to run outside of the main core before you can suffocate.
So the best way I found is to get to the core and then see what you need, then drop all the important stuff on the ground in the core, then you die grab what you need and just go back to the core.
