In fact, it is clearly enabled, as with the rack attached the system alerts and activated the brakes when we attempt to reverse. So I just figured it was turned off. In the owners manual it tells how to check whether it is on or or by looking at the head unit display when putting the car in reverse. There it shows RAB on and the sound on. Is this normal to see RAB OFF when first starting the car as I can't see anything in the owners manual saying so?. Jul 9, 2017 · I hold my finger for 4 seconds on that RAB menu light, and the RAB system is temporarily turned off, and I can back down the driveway without the car's antilocking system kicking in. Then, when I put the car in drive, it turns the RAB system light back on.

Jan 11, 2023 · Simply turn off the RAB system. The Subaru Reverse Automatic Braking system was designed to help you avoid accidents when driving a car in reverse gear. However, if the system malfunctions, it can cause problems with unwanted braking. Once the RAB is triggered or disabled, it will stay disabled on the screen. If the system was triggered normally (brakes kicked in) then when you put it in drive, the system should reset. If is disabled in drive, it means the RAB has malfunctioned. Turning the ignition off/on will clear that and it should work then.

I am struggling to find a pattern with the behavior.
