Sometimes it just shears for no apparent reason. Needles don't get back and boom, sheared pin just like you said. I just pull the needles up, replace the bolt and go.

They are very good balers and highly sought after. There is a million and one grease fittings on them. I like to grease them after 600 or so bales.
