When I started my Sorento, it wouldn't go out of park period. I figured out the temporary shift-lock over-ride that is infront of the shifter and to the left and made it home.

It may be all the way in park, but if the shift release rod, which is what the button moves, doesn't return to the full upright position, then the key lock will not release. Jewels67.
