I do not like the new ones at all! The rubber deteriorates and shot digs into the grommet and gets caught between the bar and the loader head.After some encouragement from members on this site to an earlier post, I went out and found the box with my 12 ga reloader. I load 12, 16 and 20 ga. on MEC 600 Jr. Mk5 machines. Probably in excess of 40K shells on the 12 ga. I've never experienced the malfunction you describe. Sounds like it was not properly tightened at the factory. I believe I would try Thread-Lock or some other alternative to drilling/tapping for a #2 screw. Bruce.

Those are both Pre '82 Models. The front of the Base Assembly is open. With '82 on models the base is closed in the front.
