I was logged in, got a 68MB patch, then whammo, Realms incompatible. On the bnet warcraft app directly under the wow legion icon. As I read more it seems more likely that the issue is server side and only some servers were actually updated when the mini patch went live. That happened to me too, but it just opened up.
