I'm trying to help you and learn on the fly myself on how the process works. I've sold thousands of items on eBay and Poshmark but just started on Mercari in August. Everyone has different procedures for returns. Hopefully, Mercari doesn't use the Poshmark procedure. How long ago did the item sell and when did the buyer receive the item?

I have ALWAYS been paid for items damaged during transit. That's what the shipping protection is for.
