On a few occassions with a fully charged battery the low battery charge indicator has appeared on my D700 and I have lost power. I think I would use the extra "reach", but based on prior posts and test results for the dismal Nikon 24-120 f3.5-5.6 and the 24-120 f4, I think a new Nikon Z 24-120 is a real challenge for Nikon with its 5:1 zoom ratio.

Unfortunately the internet is full of myths and nonsense, often pedalled by click bait merchants on YouTube. Film cameras look beautiful, but they’re not so nice in the hand (in my experience). The first MH-18a I got came with the D200 and shipped with the EN-EL3e. The MH-18 and EN-EL3 only have two contacts, whereas the MH-18a and EN-EL3e have a third contact.
